Homemade Dill Pickles made with Miss R & Miss K back on August 16
We went driving on the long weekend.
Nothing exciting, just a quick jaunt to Kananaskis and back, enough to make it feel like we actually got out of the city this summer. It’s a pity we didn’t have enough forthought to consider the idea of hauling along a couple of chairs, a cooler and some toys so we could just park our butts beside the river in one of the day use picnic areas. The weather was just right for mellowing out: not too hot, not too cold.
Friendly Neighbourhood Butterfly coming to say hi
The weather’s changing. The comings of fall have begun. What happened to summer?
Can you see our neighbour?
It’s the Secret Bunny!
Tonight I’m making steak with chimichurri sauce for dindin with rice and zucchini.
So far it appears to be shaping up to be a rather tasty sounding dindin and the sauce smells rather amazing.
Last night I was flipping through The Martha Stewart Living Cookbook and stumbled across the recipe and couldn’t immediately recall why that sounded familiar. Then I realized that the last time we went to Blue House, I had a similarly named dish and so had to try this.
The recipe‘s ridiculously easy. I made the sauce just now and it’s sitting in the fridge until dindin so the flavours can meld. I don’t have flank steak, but I do have a whole bunch of cube steaks that I bought in bulk for Marlboro Man’s Favourite Sandwich, so that’s what we’ll be having tonight.
So far the sauce alone is rather intoxicating, let’s hope that the taste lives up to to the smell.
