Happy Chinese New Year!

May the coming year bring you great health & prosperity.

To celebrate the Year of the Ox, I give you pics of last night’s dindin at Mom & Dad’s.

But first, to whet your appetite:

What my brothers do while they wait for dindin… Magic: The Gathering

No lobster, but we did get crab!

Chicken with steamed chinese sausage

Whole pan-fried fish

Stir fried oysters

Long life noodles

Store bought assorted meats Prosperity Platter

Sliced pork tongue

Soup with fat toy, dried oysters and bean curd sheets

For Strawberryeggs & Gangstakago: Chinese New Year Lucky Orange Cake
A couple of cake notes:
* Be super careful when you boil those oranges — as much as it seems kinda stupid, use a big pot with lots of water, otherwise you risk boiling everything dry and ending up with a blackened pot that’s gonna take days to clean. *sigh*
* This baby is SUPER moist! As you can tell, I did not follow the directions to use a springform pan and it shows. If you decide to try this recipe (I highly encourage it!) do yourself a favour and use the damn springform.
* I served the cake plain ,no orange glaze, with the option of whipped cream and/or cream cheese frosting on the side for those that wanted it. The Hubbs preferred the whipped cream, while Favourite was all about the cream cheese frosting.

Likewise that steamed fish totally is the reason why I love going out for seafood at a chinese restaurant! And don’t even get me started on the Chinese Sausage!!!!
