So for the longest time I’ve been considering the idea of doing some sort of herbal cleanse. I’ve been feeling so gross about my insides after having taken all these drugs and I just feel like purging my body. My insides just feel like a cesspool of gunk. Lovely topic, but it’s true.
I emailed Kidney Nurse about it a few weeks ago and after she had discussed it with the Renal Dieticians, it was pretty much ixnayed on the spot. It would basically do bad things to both my liver & kidneys. So that idea went out the window. Other than the whole detox thing, which I’ve always had an inkling would probably not be the best choice for me in the long run, I’ve been considering the idea of trying this Greens+ stuff that I kept seeing in the store. It seemed like a good idea to at least try it.
So that brings us to today. Mom & I hit up Amaranth Whole Foods Market this afternoon just to wander around. She called just before noon so she could drag me out of the house to do some walking anywhere I pleased. Oddly enough, as incentive to get me out of the house we usually end up buying stuff. Random stuff, but stuff nonetheless — groceries, clothes (Costco), snacks, lunchie, etc… Today was Indian buffet for lunch, Costco granola, almonds, almond milk, apples, a t-shirt & a bottle of Greens+ powder.
According to the info on Greens+, it’s supposed to help: Increase energy levels, Support the immune system, Enhance mental acuity, Cleanse the digestive system and Balance the body’s pH. I could probably benefit from all of the above. This stuff isn’t one of those detoxes/cleanses that immediately flush your entire system all at once and shock it, rather it’s an everyday supplement to get your system moving more regularly. Having said that, the instructions recommend that if you’re new to the product, start with 1tsp Greens+ powder per serving and work your way up to the recommended 3tsp/serving over the span of 3 weeks.
We shall see how it goes. So far, the stuff is GREEN and tastes predominantly of green tea. I imagine this might be kina sludgey once I get to the 3tsp per 250ml of liquid.
In other news: I’m not sleeping. I’m not sleeping well at all. Last night to avoid taking the dilaudid, I turned on the tv and watched all sorts of stuff. Most notably a movie that played on CBC Late Night called Crash. I have never seen so much sex in a movie that wasn’t already deemed a porno. It was intriguing only in the sense that it was hard to turn away from it because the sheer amount of sex in the movie, but disturbing all at the same time. There was sex scene everytime the movie went to commercial. James Spader is certainly tasty looking when he was younger, but then I have a thing for thinner men. :P
All I can say is this: Lots and LOTS of sex.
